Kirkwall Bowling Club in partnership with Active Schools are holding their annual Primary Bowling Festival on the 16th May at the Kirkwall Bowling Club. This festival along with the taster sessions which were held in your school, are intended to introduce pupils to a Commonwealth sport that they may not have had the opportunity to try before.
Pupils are invited to attend this festival from Glaitness (P7) & St. Andrews (P6).
Pupils will be put into teams, and each team will take part in a round robin festival. We intend to have teams made up of pupils from both schools as much as possible therefore giving the pupils another opportunity to mix with the peers from other schools.
Pupils from St. Andrews will be picked up from their school at 9.35am by coach (stagecoach), and will depart from Kirkwall Bowling Club at 12noon to return to their school in time for lunch.
There will be no facilities for buying food or drink so please ensure pupils bring a bottle of water/juice and a snack to eat in-between games.
Clothing
Your pupils will need appropriate clothing for taking part in the activities. They should wear warm clothing which can be taken off if the weather turns warmer. Trainers must be worn to protect the grass playing surface. A waterproof jacket is a necessity; even if it is sunny in the morning! As we know the weather can change from morning to afternoon quite considerably.
Weather
If the weather is unsuitable for this activity to take place we will inform the school by 9am on the morning of the festival. On the other hand children are advised to take sun cream with them in case it is sunny.
